Our Team

Hi! My name is Emily.

I’m a Play Therapist.

Children and families working with Emily can expect a kind, respectful, curious therapist who values humour and play as a way of developing trust and connection. They will be invited to co-create a safe, therapeutic relationship with someone who values who they are as an individual, helping them to remember the value they bring to their family system. Emily has worked with children who have experienced family violence, out of home care, family separation, as well as emotional regulation challenges, and is particularly passionate about supporting children in early childhood (ages 3-8). Emily's practice has been shaped and guided by trauma-informed practices, interpersonal neurobiology and positive psychology approaches.

As a primary school teacher for many years, Emily spent her career creating safe, nurturing environments for children to feel seen, heard and understood, as well as working collaboratively with parents and caregivers to ensure their child was supported throughout their learning journey. Real, authentic connection is important to Emily and she has made this a priority in all elements of her life by fostering positive relationships with children, parents/caregivers, students, colleagues, friends and family.

Emily grew up in Tasmania splitting her time between her Dad’s large, Arabic family on a farm and her Mum’s smaller English side. As a result of this, she has developed an appreciation of other cultures, especially food and music, and an understanding of very different family structures and relationships. She now lives in Melbourne’s inner north with her little dog Billie.

Emily is looking forward to working with you and your child/ren to uncover their many strengths and wisdom and build their self esteem so they can further discover and share their best selves with the world.
