Our Team
Hi! My name is Julia.
I’m a Play Therapist & Expressive Arts Therapist.
Julia is a qualified Art and Play Therapist and has worked with children and families for over a decade in a range of roles and settings. Julia offers Play Therapy to children and Interplay Family Play Therapy to dyads (child and parent/caregiver together). She is passionate about the power of creativity and play and working to support children and their parents/caregivers to explore, process and integrate their experiences, as well as have fun, experience joy and strengthen their relationships.
Julia has extensive experience working with clients who have experienced trauma and disruptions to the parent/caregiver-child attachment relationship. Julia can support children and their families with a range of issues, including loss and bereavement; interpersonal trauma; challenging behaviours; fears or anxieties; problems with eating or sleeping; difficulty concentrating at school; or conflict in friendships or family relationships.
Julia prioritises building trust, connection and safety with clients, working in a way that helps children and families feel valued, seen and heard. She is warm, deeply empathic, has a calm presence and always treats clients with dignity and respect. She is client-led and works collaboratively with parents/caregivers, supporting them to understand and respond to their child in new and helpful ways. Julia welcomes all families, and is particularly passionate about supporting rainbow and foster families.
While Julia doesn't have any (human) children of her own (she does have several cat and dog family members), she strongly believes that children should have a village of safe and supportive adults around them and she loves being Aunty to the children in her biological and chosen family.
