How to beat the SADs (Seasonal Affective Disorder)

Hello Sunshine! 🥰

Has anyone else been feeling the SADs (Seasonal Affective Disorder) BIG TIME this winter?

I put my SADs down to a rather non-existent social life the last few months. Maybe due to our bubba being sick. Or coz the cost of living has seriously cramped our brunching lifestyle! Or coz we've been too exhausted working and parenting our 11-month-old to brave the freezing Melbourne rain and chill (Zzz and Brrrr!)

But over the weekend, my hubby and I realised we absolutely NEEDED to get out of the house. To have a break from all the DOING and just BE. And strolling along Lygon St and Carlton Gardens with our bub in the sunshine amongst the other fams, touching the beautiful huge trees and waving hello to the bouncing doggies, was all we needed to BREATHE more deeply, get a BIGGER PERSPECTIVE, and feel more HOPEFUL again. Mindfulness, play and foodie rejuvenation in one afternoon! 🥰

We also realised that we need to see friends and family again! Even if we've been up most of the night with bub. Even if her nighttime routine (what nighttime routine?) might get out of whack. Even if we feel guilty leaving bub with our partner for an evening friends hang (Aarghgh the Parent Guilt!).

We gotta remember:

Social connection.

Awareness.

Self-care.

Self-compassion…

…SASS beats the SADs!
